Introduction The FMCG Sales Representative–Formal & Informal Market is responsible for driving sales growth,expanding market penetration,and maintaining strong customer relationships across formal and informal FMCG channels,including supermarkets, retail chains,pharmacies,wholesalers,cash&carries, independent retailers, general dealers,spazashops,and other relevant trade outlets. The role focuses on promoting and selling the company’s FMCG product portfolio, including Niceone Washing Powder,Niceone Bar Soap,and,while ensuring effective sales execution, customer service,product availability, promotional activities,and appropriate management of both formal and informal market channels. Duties & Responsibilities Formal & Informal Channel Development Develop and expand customer relationships across formal and Informal channels, including distributors, wholesalers,supermarkets,pharmacies,retail chains, independent retailers, general dealers, spazashops, and other trade outlets. Secure listings, shelfspace, product visibility, and distribution opportunities for Niceone Washing Powder, Niceone Bar Soap,,and other company FMCG products. Conduct structured business reviews with buyers,procurement teams, distributors, and key customers, as appropriate to the channel. Drive market penetration and distribution growth across national,regional,independent,and informal trade accounts. Sales Performance & Target Achievement Achieve monthly and annual sales targets across all FMCG product lines. Ensure growth in sales volume,revenue,customer base,distribution, and market area cross formal and informal channels. Monitor stock levels,sell-through rates,and replenishment cycles. Increase sales volumes and market penetration across key FMCG products, with particular focus on Niceone Washing Powder, Niceone Bar Soap Commercial Negotiation & Account Management Negotiate commercial terms, pricing, promotional arrangements,listing agreements,and othercustomer-specific trading requirements within approved company guidelines. Ensure compliance with price control,recommended retail pricing,and channel boundaries. Manage customer ownership and support appropriate channel management to minimise pricing inconsistencies and cross-channel conflict. Support customers with rebate claims,settlement processes,and invoice alignment. Customer Relationship Management Maintain strong relationships with key retail accounts through structured engagement: Weekly store visits Monthly buyer meetings Quarterly business reviews Provide product training to store staff,merchandisers,and supervisors. Ensure consistent execution of pricing,promotions,and display standards. Merchandising & Market Execution Ensure correct shelf placement,facings,and stock rotation. Monitor competitor activity,pricing,and promotional displays. Implement point-of-sale materials,gondola ends,and promotional stands. Monitor pricing, product labelling,and promotional execution to ensure alignment with approved company pricing and promotional guidelines. Promotion Execution & Planning Align promotions with retail calendars(e.g.,month-endsales,seasonal events,BlackFriday). Execute promotional mechanics such as: Bundledeals Multi-buyoffers Freegiftpacks Price-offpromotions Track promotion performance and prepare post-promotion analysis reports. Market Insight & Competitor Monitoring Track competitor brands and products for pricing,promotions,distribution,market activity, and customer response across formal and informal channels. Gather customer feed back on product performance,packaging,and pricing. Identify opportunities for new SKUs,pack sizes,or promotional strategies. Data Reporting & Information Management Submit daily store visit reports,stock checks,and competitor observations. Provide weekly sales forecasts and retail inventory reports. Maintain CRM accuracy and ensure data traceability. Compliance & Internal Collaboration Support adherence to approved pricing structures and channel strategies,while monitoring potential cross-channel leakage and market inconsistencies. Coordinate with operations for delivery schedules,stock availability,and returns. Work with finance on rebate settlements,credit notes,and account reconciliation. Collaborate with regional FMCG teams to replicate successful retail strategies. Desired Experience & Qualification Grade 12 (Matric). Minimum 3+ years of FMCG sales experience, preferably with exposure to both formal and informal market channels. Experience working with supermarkets, pharmacies, wholesalers, retail chains, independent retailers, general dealers, spaza shops, distributors, or similar FMCG customers. Strong understanding of FMCG route-to-market principles, sales operations, and customer management. Skills & Competencies Strong negotiation and communication skills. Bilingual proficiency (English + local language). Ability to handle buyer objections and pricing discussions. Strong analytical skills using Excel, CRM systems, and reporting tools. Ability to work independently and manage multiple retail accounts. Strong compliance awareness, commercial integrity, and a track record of professional conduct.
