Duties & Responsibilities A leading organisation is seeking a Database Administrator to join its Software Development team. This role is responsible for designing, developing, optimising, and supporting database solutions that enable secure, accurate, and accessible business information. The successful candidate will be involved in database development, performance tuning, reporting, automation, operational support, and database governance. Working closely with developers and key business stakeholders, you will contribute to the stability and growth of the organisation's data environment while helping drive technical improvements and best practices. Key Responsibilities Develop and maintain database objects including tables, views, and stored procedures. Provide database support for operational requests, reports, dashboards, and stakeholder requirements. Monitor database availability and resolve performance or uptime issues. Ensure data integrity through validation, cleansing, and quality assurance processes. Optimise database performance through query tuning, indexing, and maintenance activities. Support developers with database-related troubleshooting and technical guidance. Review database schemas, SQL code, and development changes to ensure best practices are followed. Implement and maintain database security and compliance controls. Automate repetitive database tasks to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort. Contribute to database monitoring, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives. Participate in projects aimed at enhancing data maturity, governance, and compliance. Provide standby support outside of normal business hours when required. Job Experience and Skills Required Diploma or Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Development, or a related field. 3 to 5 years of practical experience in database administration, database development, or a similar role. Experience developing and maintaining SQL database solutions. Experience supporting operational reporting and dashboard requirements. Proven experience working with database performance optimisation and availability management. Exposure to data governance, compliance, and security principles. Advanced SQL development skills. Database object development including tables, views, and stored procedures. Query optimisation and performance tuning. Indexing and database maintenance. Database monitoring and troubleshooting. Reporting and dashboard development. Data validation, cleansing, and quality management. Database security and access control. Automation of database processes and tasks. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Excellent troubleshooting skills. Strong documentation and technical writing capabilities. Effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills. Ability to work closely with both technical and non-technical teams. Strong attention to detail and commitment to data quality. Ability to prioritise workloads and manage multiple tasks effectively.
